Woodway Energy Completes Bluebonnet System Project Phases 1-3
HOUSTON, June 1, 2023 – Woodway Energy Infrastructure (WEI) announces the completion of its Bluebonnet Expansion Project in February, 2023, which was completed under budget and ahead of schedule, in support of its strategic delivery to our customers in Central Texas. The Bluebonnet Expansion Project was developed in partnership with our customer gas distribution company, using innovative solutions to increase supply optionality of the system and minimize the actual amount of pipeline expansion required, in turn minimizing the capital costs for WEI and minimizing transportation costs for our customer.
The Bluebonnet Expansion Project consists of the development and construction of approximately 42 miles of primarily 6” diameter pipeline in 3 distinct phases, in order to expand the Bluebonnet Pipeline System for future growth and reliability. The first phase of this project was begun in February, 2021, and the third and final phase was completed and commissioned in February, 2023.
With completion of the expansion project, this brings the Bluebonnet Pipeline System to a total of approximately 179 miles of intrastate high-pressure gas transmission pipeline, traversing Bastrop, Colorado, Lee, Fayette, and Lavaca Counties, serving gas utility and industrial customers in the Texas communities of Elgin, Bastrop, Smithville, Giddings, LaGrange, Weimar, Schulenburg, and Hallettsville.
